Trees for Survival

Trees for Survival - An environmental education programme that teaches students how they can be actively involved in the restoration of their environment.

'TFS' lead teacher Pip Hall is working alongside our Trees For Survival Facilitator and the students in Rm 12 to 'bag on' or 'pot up' 1000 native plant seedlings. These will be grown on and lovingly cared for in the purpose-built shade houses that were delivered and installed by the mens shed team earlier in the year. Once mature, the plants will find homes out in our local community. As community minded readers, and 'guardians of Te Puna', please keep a watchful eye on our awesome wee facility and spread the word that what we are doing here will provide long-term benefits to our community -and that we need look after it.

Every student who participates in the Trees for Survival's programme learns how to grow native plant species from seedlings, care for these and take part in a planting day alongside landowners, partners, teachers and their peers to plant the trees they nurtured!
