Neil Towersey |
Mr Towersey did not originally want to be a principal, he wanted to be a secondary science teacher. He became a principal when the principal at the school he was teaching at was away so he filled in for him and thought it was fun. So he signed up at Te Puna school and now here he is. Mr Towersey’s most embarrassing moment was when he was doing a parent interview and he sneezed and had a big booger hanging out his nose!

Barbara Duncalf |
Mrs Duncalfe is the school secretary. She used be a secretary in a plumbing company and a plant nursery. Before that she was a qualified teacher. She has 3 children of her own, all of whom have left home and become successful adults. The reason she wanted to become Te Puna Schools’ secretary is because she wanted to work with kids. Kate Shepherd is her heroine. Her hobbies are sewing and craft.

Adrienne Stewart |
Mrs Stewart likes to teach juniors. She went to Tawa college in Wellington. Her favourite chocolate is caramello and if she had a million dollars she would travel and help third world orphanages. The jobs she did while she studied to become a teacher were as a waitress and also at Placemakers. Her hobby she has been doing lately is reading. If she had three wishes she would wish infinite wishes. The most interesting thing for her about being a teacher is to see children excited about learning and growing through the year. If she had to choose an animal to be she would be a cat because they’re her number one, but she actually owns a golden labra-doodle called Amber. Mrs Stewart wanted to become a teacher because she loves children.

Mrs Riordan likes to teach five, six and seven year olds. She has been teaching for a long time and her favourite subject to teach is reading. Teaching is what she originally wanted to do as a job and she has been teaching at Te Puna School for 3 years. If Mrs Riordan had a million dollars she would travel and also buy a swimming pool. Her favourite type of chocolate is Guylian. She would send all of her friends and family to Te Puna School. Her hero is Mother Teresa.

Melissa Stephen |
Miss Stephen is a humorous, funny and awesome teacher. Before she started her career as a teacher she worked in the arts and film industry but she didn’t really enjoy it so she used her degree to become a teacher. She enjoys teaching her students art and photography, she is an amazing artist with great skills and a great photographer. If she ever got a million dollars she would go on the most amazing overseas trip and see the whole world with her family. Her favorite television programme is Later with Jools Holland, which is a singing program. The most interesting thing for her about being a teacher is getting to know kids from all sorts of different backgrounds. She is an awesome teacher with so many talents.

Nadine Robinson |
Miss Robinson has been teaching for 20 years and her favorite subjects to teach are reading and writing. She had always wanted to be a teacher but if she wasn’t one she would want to be a horticulturist. She has taught Year 0 through to Year 6 and is still learning to like teaching with computers. Before she was a teacher she did holiday jobs like picking strawberries, milking cows and working at Mitre 10. Her favourite program on TV is Castle.

Erueti Korewha |
Matua Erueti is the kind of teacher that likes to teach sports, social studies and anything Maori. He enjoys teaching the year 5-8 students. He has been teaching for 13 years and has done 2 years at Te Puna school. Matua Erueti would send family and friends to Te Puna school for a good education. He likes teaching with computers and he enjoys any contact sport such as league, touch and basketball.

Cathy Pringle |
Mrs Pringle is a kind and positive teacher who always looks on the bright side of things. She always wanted to teach and the most interesting thing about being a teacher for her is the children. She says that it is very challenging working on computers. Mrs Pringle went to three different schools, the first was Waipu Primary, then Waikato Diocesa, and finally St Cuthbert College. Her favorite hobbies are walking and kayaking. Three things Mrs Pringle would take on a deserted island are food, drink, and her family.

Mrs Chatfield has be teaching for at least 20 years at three different schools; Te Puna, Vauxhall Primary and Takapuna Grammar school. As well as teaching at Vauxhall primary she also went to school there as a student and played netball and softball. Her favourite type of chocolate is scorched almonds. Mrs Chatfield’s most embarrassing moment is forgetting her dance steps when she was in a show. If she was stranded on a deserted island she would take her water bottle, a photo album of her family and her pillow. If she was an animal she would be a bird flying free.

Miss Green has always wanted to be a teacher since she was 14. She grew up in the middle of Matamata and one of her favourite hobbies is to go tramping. If she had one million dollars she would spend some, save some and give some away. Her favourite type of chocolate is anything from Belgium and if she had three wishes they would be to have more time and money to travel, world peace and to be able to eat lots of chocolate without getting a headache.

Ms Shilling didn’t originally want to be a teacher, she wanted to marry a millionaire and she’s still looking! Her favourite hobby is painting whenever she gets the time. If Ms Shilling were a millionaire she would travel the world experiencing lots of different cultures and trying all the delicious foods. If she had 3 wishes they would be health, happiness and love. That’s all she really needs and so far she’s had it all. If Ms Shilling was a animal it would definitely be a cat. Her cats have the best life, they sleep, eat and sleep! The most interesting thing about be a teacher for her is getting to know all the fantastic students and the fact that each day is completely different from the last. You never know what might happen next or what exciting and interesting thing you will learn during a day at school.

Whaea Rahera likes to teach all ages. She has been teaching for 10 years. She especially likes to teach her children science and social studies. Since Whaea Rahera was seven she always wanted to be a teacher. She has been teaching since 2004 and has taught at all year levels. She would happily send all her family and friends to Te Puna school. She always tells her children to believe in themselves and loves watching them learn and grow. She wanted to be a teacher because her mum was a teacher.

Whaea Erika has been teaching Maori at primary schools for five years. She teaches year two to four students also she teaches adults at Te Wanaga o Aotearoa. Her most embarassing moment is tripping up on a bus full of people. If she wasn't a teacher she would like to be researching for iwi claims or packing shelves at Countdown! Her favourite chocolate is dark with fruit and nut. If she had three wishes it would be no poverty, no disease and even more wishes. The sports she has played is softball and netball. The most interesting thing for her about being a teacher is meeting lots of families.

Miss Chambers has been teaching for 20 years. She originally wanted to teach because she likes helping people and also because everyday is different. She did have a job before teaching - she worked at the Public Relations office in Tauranga. In primary school Miss Chambers did netball and trampolining. She loves to watch reality shows. She also learnt French for five years. The most exiting thing about her job is getting to know the kids and helping them to do their. Her hero is Martin Luther King.

Mrs Phipps is a teacher at Te Puna school. She has been teaching for 5 years and her favorite subject is writing. If she had a million dollars she would travel the world. Her favourite chocolate is peppermint. If she was stuck on a deserted island she would of take water, matches and a good book. Her wishes are that she could sing, that there’s no poverty in the world and no wars. Her most embarrassing moment is falling over in front of a large group of people at a restaurant. Her favorite hero is William Wilberforce - he helped abolished slavery.

Mr Wadsworth teaches Year 7 & 8. He has done lots of jobs before being a teacher - he worked in a jewellery shop, delivered newspapers and picked raspberries. His favourite subject to teach is P.E. Mr Wadsworth has many wishes like no stress in his life and wishes that his family will be healthy. Speaking of families Mr Wadsworth has two sons and a wife. He likes travelling in the holidays. If he had a million dollars he would buy a small island in the Pacific. If he could be any animal he would turn into a monkey.

Mrs Robinson is a very skilled teacher aide as she has worked at Te Puna school for thirteen years as both a teacher aide and special needs educator. She originally wanted to be a teacher but after having her kids she worked at social welfare then after that she became a teacher aide. Her favourite very healthy chocolate is dark energy and her hobby is gardening. She grew up in Levin and as a kid she went to Levin, Horowhenua College and New Plymouth Girls High School. She also knows two other languages which are French and Maori. The most interesting thing about being a special needs teacher for her is seeing the progress in the students learning and therefore new confidence to take new risks.

Tracy is a fun, helpful, caring teacher aide that works really hard at her job. When she grew up she went to Allandale Primary school and interestingly enough her year six teacher was Mr Scadden .Then she went to Whakatane Intermediate, and on to Whakatane High School where she became head girl. When she was at school she loved to play sports and played everything! She loves Te Puna school and she said that that she always recommends Te Puna school to everyone and even her sons and daughter went to this school. Her favourite television program is Vampire Diaries, her favorite chocolate is dairy milk, and she loves to grow vegetables. She says that she could sit there and watch them grow! Her hero is her Dad.

Christine Gilmour |
Mrs Gilmour is a teacher aide at Te Puna school. An embarrassing moment for her was when she was at the tennis courts and she said to herself, “It’s a bit chilly out here,” so she grabbed a jersey. After a few games a girl came and asked, “Can I please have my jersey back now?” If Mrs Gilmour had a million dollars she would buy a new pair of teeth and buy a house next to the beach and if she was trapped on an island she would take a blanket, matches and some water. Her hero is Cliff Richard.

Chantelle Freeman |
Chantelle is a very kind teacher aide who is helpful towards all students and people. Before Chantelle became a teacher aide she worked temporarily in England, and she also worked as an aerobics instructor for around 15 years. Her heroes are anyone that put others before themselves or who helps the environment. She grew up mainly in Tauranga and Auckland and went to schools in Northland, Rotorua, Auckland and Tauranga. If Chantelle had three wishes she would wish that the world was clean, that everybody had enough and that there were no cars. Chantelle’s favourite television shows are reality shows. Chantelle is an awesome teacher aide who works for Te Puna School.

Nicola is a nice person who became a teacher aide because she enjoys helping people and loves watching children succeed with their work. Before she came to Te Puna school she grew lettuces and herbs. With a million dollars she would keep some for herself and give some to friends and family and she would also give some for the R.D.A. Her favourite hobby is horse riding. When she went to primary school her favourite sport was hockey. If she was stuck on a deserted island she would take her family, her dog and a laptop if it has internet. She comes from Taupo where she went to schools called Hilltop Primary and Macleans College. If she was a animal she would be a horse so that she could gallop free.

Shane is a very kind local guy. His favourite hobby is fishing and his favourite type of chocolate is fruit and nut. He grew up in Te Puna with one brother and three sisters and his schooling was at the Te Puna Convent. He also went to Saint Peters Maori college and Tauranga boys for one year. If he had three wishes it would be to have world peace, no world hunger and a thousand more wishes. Shane is an awesome caretaker for Te Puna school.

Belinda is an awesome teacher aide who works for Te Puna School. When Belinda was growing up she went to Welcome Bay Primary school, Tauranga Intermidiate and Tauranga Girls college.Her hero is Albert Einstein. If Belinda was any animal she would be a cat because you get to eat and sleep all day in the sun and be taken care of by humans. Belinda's most interesting thing about being a teacher aide is being able to help the kids, watching them learn new things and watching them get excited about learning.
